El fruto, el limoncillo o quenepa, es una drupa redonda, de 2 a 4 centímetros de diámetro de cáscara delgada y quebradiza de color verde. Presentan una pequeña protuberancia en la punta. Por dentro se encuentra una pulpa color salmón brillante y gelatinosa que al madurar es de sabor dulce, ligeramente ácida y comestible.
